Creating Something From Nothing

Creating Something From Nothing

Turn your unused land into a profitable glamping business
BLOG IMAGE

Lots of people in the UK who own their own land look for ways to make money from it. Some plant crops and hope that one day they will sell, some invest in animals for similar reasons etc.

These avenues are great if you have spare land, however if your goal is to generate a sustainable income then you may struggle to achieve your goal with these ventures alone. Its no secret that some small holdings in the UK have invested in glamping, some offering basic tents and amenities to just about get by, others providing their guests with “top of the range” tree houses with facilities that puts some high end hotels to shame.

If you are looking to turn your unused land into something that can generate a sustainable income that also provides you with a better work-life balance then starting a glamping site is something to look at.

– Low maintenance (once setup)

– The amount you earn is in your control

– The business model is easily expandable

– Perfect when coupled to another lead generator (such as outdoor pursuits, pottery classes, massage retreats etc…)

– Operational for 4 seasons (depending on accommodation offered. 2 seasons minimum)

These are some of the main reasons to start a glamping site. The more you can offer means the larger audience that you’ll be attracting.

So, how much can you earn?

Assuming a nightly tariff of £65 for a canvas product in a summer season of 90 nights an income of £5,850 could be achieved per unit. Thats £35,600 for 6 tents/ unit.

A 4 season unit (Explorer cabin or similar) at a tariff of £140 per night and a low occupancy rate of 27% could achieve around £14,000 per unit (higher occupancy rates should be achievable).

The initial investment differs from site to site, this depends on infrastructure, type of accommodation etc… You will also need planning permission (if you don’t have it already) this is something Start A Glamping Site can also offer.

There are numerous ways to get involved in glamping, and large investments aren’t always the best way to get started. To get the process started or to learn more, Get in Touch.
